It is about time Joe Simpson started laughing about his daughters, the rest of the world has been for a while.  But the sometimes overzealous father is finally seeing the funny side of life as he has signed up with Nickelodeon to executive produce a comedy series about his two daughters, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson.

The show will be “loosely based on Simpson’s real-life experience as a psychologist raising two daughters in Texas.”  “The story in the comedy project centers on one of the daughters who begins imitating her father and giving life advice to other kids in her school.”

Once you don’t succeed, keep trying until you make it.  That must be the motto Joe Simpson lives by, because the music career for both his daughters are over while they are still in their 20’s but as their manager, he is keeping the girls busy.  Ashlee is on Broadway, while Jessica has a new reality show on VH1 and now a new comedy series.

Every parents instinct is to always stand up for their kids when ever someone tries to attack them. So hearing Joe Simpson say his daughters are not failures is something we should all expect, but I beg to differ.

Jessica Simpson during the late 1990s and early 2000s was standing on her own with the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. But now she is a former pop star, former country star, once divorced and a high profile break up away from being irrelevant and she is only 29.  So it is easy to call her a failure, because she is going the way most washed up celebs go, reality tv.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is also facing the same fate. On SNL she had the worst perfomance of her life that expossed her as a fraud, and she was just recently let go from the new 90210 series. She is now relegated to doing Broadway shows.  If she can show she is a good actress, maybe being a movie star could be a potential but until then broadway is the only venue she can book.

I don’t blame Joe for standing up for his daughters but the facts don’t lie.  It is a shame when Britney can go crazy, leave for a while, come back and still be more successful than both Simpson girls.
